  10. How many domain names can I have with my ClickHere2 Web Hosting account?
  1. What is a domain name?
A domain name is a unique way of identifying individual web sites on the Internet. For example, the domain name of our company, ClickHere2 Network, is clickhere2.com. The domain name is used for both your web site address and your email address.

  2. Why should I register a domain name?
Domain names are designed for people, IP addresses are designed for computers. If a company wants people to find their web site easily, they will need a domain name. Domain names are registered on a first-come first-served basis. The fact that someone may have incorporated under a name or even that they have filed a trademark application does not automatically permit them to use that name. All parties who have legitimate use for a name, share the same rights to a name. If a company conducts business over the Internet, or even if that company plans to do so in the future, they should register their domain name(s) now. Once a name is taken, it's gone.

  3. What domain name should I choose for my web site?
You should choose a domain name for your web site that is either your business name or something similar to your business name. Your domain name can only have alphabetic characters, numbers, and hyphens. So if your business name is Smith Inc., you might choose smithinc.com for your domain name. If the domain name smithinc.com is already in use, then you could use smith-inc.com instead. Remember to keep your domain name as short as possible so that it is easy to remember and easy to tell other people.

  4. What is the difference between the .com, .net and .org domain names?
The domain suffixes are intended to differentiate between various types of organizations on the Internet. Generally, the following rules apply:

.com -- businesses and commercial enterprises
.net -- network-related organizations and enterprises
.org -- charitable or non-profit organizations

The domain suffix type itself has no bearing on accessibility on the Internet from a technical standpoint, but over time the .com domain type has become the most popular and recognizable on the Internet

  5. What is the difference between a web site address and an email address?
    • A web site address is where people go on the web to see your web pages. For example, http://www.yourbusiness.com is what your web site address might look like.
    • An email address is what people use to send you messages and even files like word processing documents, pictures or spread sheets. For example, yourname@yourbusiness.com is what your email address might look like.

  6. Who is InterNIC and why do I have have to pay a fee to them?
    • InterNIC is the central organization that organizes domain names.
    • In order to have your domain name become active, you must register it with InterNIC so that your domain name will become recognized throughout the Internet.
    • Having a central organizing body prevents two parties from having the same domain name.
    • InterNIC charges a $60 fee to register each domain name for two years. At the end of two years there is a $30 per year renewal fee.
    • Registration fees are payable to InterNIC, not to ClickHere2 Network.

  7. How can I find out what domain names are available?

  8. I registered my domain 24 hours ago and still still cannot find my web page, why not?
